Christmas is for lovers
If Dave was nervous and fidgety before his first date with Maxxie, he's pretty sure he's ready to pass out right the fuck here. Which would be disastrous with all the candles around.
Big romantic gestures aren't something he's used to, but it's Christmas Eve and he really wants to make tonight special for him and Max. So he'd gone all out, or at least with what he thought would be in their comfort zones. Dave ran all over the city for the best candles, slow burning with little drip and no smoke. Nothing super girly smelling, just clean and relaxing scents for the few that were perfumed. He's just grateful that the shadow people about are still helpful when they interact with the actual island people. Or he'd already have fucked this up. Now he's got three dozen lights burning a soft glow around Maxxie's room and he steps back, glad that this part looks good.
He also got food set up on a little impromptu picnic spread on the floor. Maybe he should have taken Maxxie to a really nice restaurant or even taken advantage of the markets and cooked something a little more advanced from the end of his cooking classes, but the simpler foods still made from gourmet organics all over the city seemed more like something they could casually enjoy. It doesn't help that it brings him back to that first date.
Reaching into his bag once that whole spread is done, Dave flushes deeply as he pulls out the last purchase for the night he has planned. Gulping as he looks at the items he bought as a precaution in one of his wanderings to Chelsea, he decides to put them in a drawer by the bed. No need to be completely presumptuous. But also no need to be unprepared.
For a final touch, he plays a bit of music, something softer from Maxxie's iHome and turned low just for ambience. Dave looks at his hard work and sighs, mentally going over his plans.
Food, check. Mood setting, check. Neat clothes and clean breath? Yeah, check. Supplies? Glancing back at that nightstand, Dave checks that off too.
Nerves? Maxxie's presence? Not check yet, but Dave is breathing deep and trying as he watches the door for his boyfriend. He expects him to be back soon, at least. Dave can't wait too much longer for what he has to say, and he feels like he left that pass after Halloween. But not anymore.

He wraps his arms around Dave's shoulders as he returns the kiss, pulling back only when he was good and satisfied with greeting his boyfriend. "This is amazing."

"I'm just really glad you like it. And hoping I'm not screwing myself over so I'm out of ideas before Valentine's. Come on." Dave takes his boyfriend's coat, hanging it properly before taking Maxxie's hand to lead him to their little picnic spread.

"Don't talk about Valentine's, dude, I'm still getting over this," he says. It's not like it's expensive or showy or took tons of money and effort. It's simple but thoughtful and genuine, and that's what means the most to Max.

He honestly considered getting champagne or wine, but even if it wasn't readily available on the island normally, he knew it really would just set himself to be screwed over for Valentine's Day. The light craft beer and water would have to do this time around.
"Would you hold it against me if I said that I kinda don't want you to get over it just yet? I feel like I'm on a roll here."

"You're spoiling me," Maxxie points out. This could be a bad thing and his expression is - briefly - admonishing. But it quickly fades into a broad grin. "And I love it. You want to be named best boyfriend in the universe, I'm not gonna hold you back. S'long as I'm still you're boyfriend."
no subject
"What would I do with that? Rub it in everyone's faces?" Dave leans in to kiss the corner of Maxxie's mouth. "I like spoiling you. I'd rather be able to brag that I have the sexiest and happiest boyfriend than be called the best. Though, I like hearing that from you. All of it."
He strokes his cheek with his thumb, cupping his face as he gives him another chaste kiss before pulling back to go back to his beer and beignets with a grin. "And for the record, there's no one here I want to be my boyfriend more than you."
no subject
"Seriously, though," Maxxie says, a little quieter. "This is, like, the best Christmas Eve ever. Thank you."
no subject
Dave beams as he slides down on his side, propping himself with his elbow as he drink off the last of his beer. "I'm just happy to be spending tonight with you."
no subject
"Me too," Maxxie says simply before leaning in to give Dave a sweet kiss.
"Did your family do a lot for Christmas?" he asks, leaning back once he's satisfied.
no subject
Thinking about his family, his real family, Dave's smile turns slightly sad. "Yeah, and the last night of Chanukah at Nana's. We'd sometimes get extended family to come to Lima. It's apparently more likely to be a white christmas in Allen County than in Yonkers. Makes me wonder if this weather is another bone the island is throwing at us for once."
no subject
"Yeah, it's probably the island trying to be nice. It doesn't always snow that much in London either, but who wants a Christmas without snow? Not that Bristol got snow, but you know what I mean. It's more perfect this way."
no subject
Dave tilts his head towards the windows, seeing the snow fall against the city lights. "Maybe we should go have some fun in it tomorrow in the park? Enjoy it while it lasts?"

"You want to pelt me with balls of ice? Now that's love." He's only teasing, and the smile stays in place when he says it, sure and confident and happy. But it's still something he's not quite accustomed to saying yet. It hasn't lost its newness yet. His voice hitches just barely over the word, but he pretends not to notice.

"Would it be better if I said I intend to make you very warm after we come back?" he asks, voice dropped low with a bit of suggestion.
no subject
Laying a gentle hand on the nape of Dave's neck, Maxxie pulls him down for another kiss. "Loads better," he murmurs. "Only now I want to skip the snow and just stay with the warm bit."
no subject
"Mm, maybe we could get started on warming you up now? And then we'll see about the snow tomorrow?"
no subject
"I'm an excellent procrastinator. Got high marks in school for it and everything."
no subject
"You think it's ok to procrastinate on the clean up so we can get up into the bed?"
no subject
"Definitely," he says with a firm nod. "Absolutely."
no subject
"Get on the bed, babe," he growls against his lips as he pulls away.
no subject
He moves without hesitation, his hands trailing down Dave's body as he leaves it. He kicks off his shoes before getting onto the bed, kneeling on the edge, facing Dave, when he pulls his shirt off.
no subject
"God, you're so fucking hot," he says as he pulls off his undershirt, moving towards him and nudging him further back on the bed to join him.
no subject
"So are you," he breathes, his voice low, and runs his hands over his broad shoulders. He really does love this, finds so much of Dave sexy as hell. He can't stop smiling as he goes in for a deeper kiss.

Reaching down to pull Maxxie's hips close to his, Dave grinds down to make his desires clear. "Can't wait to feel you, Max. Want to feel all of you."

"Please, babe," he moans. "I want you. I want more."
no subject
Not that his boyfriend has to wait much longer for more. Dave immediately slides down and starts licking up the thick vein of Maxxie's cock, swirling his tongue around the tip when he reaches it.

He wants to taste even more, do more and not linger too much after all their waiting. But he really doesn't want to stop what he's doing right now either.
"Fuck. I have some stuff in the drawer, babe. Can you get them?"
